I am absolutely thrilled to be part of the revolution the Food Babe has begun. What? You haven't heard of her? Well, let me tell you, Vani is shaking up the food industry. She is working hard to hold corporations accountable for their products. Each of us has the right to know what's in our food. The Food Babe is getting ingredient lists out there. Better yet, she's telling us what all those long names really mean. Then, she's going a step further, by providing a guide on how to eat and live organically. Vani is not just some health-nut trying to shake things up. She had serious health issues that disappeared once she changed her diet. I've always been a firm believer that foods are powerful. They can heal you or ale you. You must put good things in your body to be healthy. GMOs, additives, and inorganic preservatives will only ruin your health. To help guide those interested in learning about healthy eating and whom are ready to make an active change in their lives, the Food Babe has released The Food Babe Way. This book has already changed my life. I've been on a good track of cutting GMOs and other additives from our diet. My goal for food (and life) is local and organic. I want my family to only have the best. There are many aspects I still struggle with though, and Vani points these out and provides prospective on how to overcome the obstacles and be the best you!
So now let's get to the good part! The Food Babe Way! In this amazing book, Vani teaches you to:
*Avoid the 15 worst ingredients
*Recognize manipulative marketing and manufacturing techniques
*Replace unhealthy foods in your diet with nutritious, delicious substitutes
*Great recipes
Each chapter is filled with excellent information and tips. Vani breaks down all the complicated language to provide her readers a guide that they can relate too. This book is not only going to make you want to change your lifestyle, it's going to show you how. It's also going to motivate you to help hold these corporations responsible for what they serve us. It's our families here, we are the ones who have to make sure we have all the information to provide them with health and nutrition!
In Chapter 1 Vani says "...Getting a company to remove a single ingredient is certainly a victory. But the real victory is that bringing awareness to one ingredient brings awareness to all the toxic ingredients in a food product. People start to see that our entire food supply is tainted -- and they mobilize. Mobilizing concerned consumers to take action in order to change our food is truly at the heart of the Food Babe Way..." This is one of many reasons I'm part of the Food Babe Revolution!
Many years ago I started learning more about foods. How different foods make you feel different ways. Then I became a mom; and everything changed! My hobby-like interest in food became top priority. It wasn't just me anymore. I was feeding my daughter, then my second daughter. And nothing but the best was acceptable. I made their foods using local, organic ingredients. I knew everything they put in their mouths. But as they got older, and especially after the second was born and life became just a little more crazy, I started buying processed foods. Then I went back to work and the short-cuts were so easy. I started really having mom-guilt about what I was feeding my family. Yes, they were eating fine, but what were they eating. Once I returned to being a stay-at-home mom I was able to focus my energy back on our diet. I've worked hard to learn all the codes and the hidden ingredients. Mainly, I've cut GMOs and gone back organic. This chapter sums up my motivation on why I've mobilized!
Chapter 2 is going to disgust you with Vani's discussion on the 15 horrible chemicals that are in so many of the processed, artificial foods. I'll leave this to your reading pleasure....
I've never been a dieter. I've always believed that healthy eating and exercise are key. Chapter 3 exemplifies this by comparing different diets and explaining how to cut the "chemical calories".
Part Two of the Food Babe Way breaks down 21 days to provide you with a guide to good food and good habits. There are numerous parts of this section I absolutely love and many parts that shocked me! There's so much to learn! For example, day 3 "Stop Drinking with your Meals". Who knew that drinking fluids during a meal "...runs roughshod over digestion and triggers nasty symptoms..." such as indigestion, heartburn, irritability, bloating, fatigue, headaches, food cravings, difficulty losing weight, and depression! Day 16 was also extremely beneficial to me. I have this issue a lot - "Dine Out the Food Babe Way". At home, we cook from scratch. But, then when I go to a restaurant, for some reason everything I know stays at home with my healthy ingredients. I indulge. I eat fried and unhealthy foods. And I feel miserable! This section provides amazing tips for while eating out. A few tips she provides include avoiding fast food (discussed in more detail in a different section), avoiding big chains, and reducing the amount of dining out. She also provides a list of tips for when eating at different ethnic restaurants.
Part Three of the Food Babe Way concludes the book with an eating plan and delicious recipes! I cannot say enough about how I enjoyed this book. It is helping to me to continue on my journey of feeding my family healthy foods. There are numerous resources to show me which companies to avoid and why. Plus, there are tips on how to hold these corporations accountable. Get yours on Amazon or Barnes and Noble today!
