I love Valentine's Day! Mainly because I love to share the love! And that's what the day is all about, or well at least that's what it's become :) Plus, it's another excuse (like we need one) to do some fun crafts!! So here are some of the fun Valentine's Day crafts we're doing this year. Feel free to share how things turned out for you or how you altered them to make your own unique Valentines!
Frozen Valentine's for Friends:
For the Valentine's that the girls were going to give to their friends at daycare, dance class, and art class we chose a Frozen (the theme of the majority of things we do lol). I found Daisy Doodle Dice blog who generously has numerous Frozen Valentine images available for free download. Click here for the one we used. I printed them out and cut them using fun edged scissors. Then the girls helped me glue them onto construction paper I had also pre-cut. After they had dried, we taped on chocolate hearts! They turned out really cute!
"Love you to Pieces"
This craft is still in the works, but here's some pictures of what we've accomplished so far!
Shaving Cream Art
I absolutely LOVE shaving cream art! My daughter learned how during one of her art classes recently and I've been looking forward to the opportunity to try it at home! We got some cheap-o plain shaving cream and two shades of pink, one purple, and one red acrylic paints. Smooth the shaving cream (my toddler found amazing to watch it grow) into a baking sheet using a ruler. Then swirl the paints on top. I let the girls use the end of a paint brush to swirl the colors together to make new shades and fun designs. Then place your thick paper onto the paint and press down. Pull off (the adult needs to do this part) and use the edge of a ruler to quickly swipe the shaving cream off. It's leaves an amazing design!
We are doing two seperate crafts with this fun project. The first is a Valentine to hang in the house, but would also work as a great gift for a loved one. The second project we did turned out amazing!! A special thank you to Nicole of Capture Me Photography for the fabulous Valentine's images! (Nicole got them back to us in two days so we could share this gift with the grandparents on Valentine's Day!!) The craft was easy to make, though did take some time. First we cut out the "matting" from white construction paper to fit a 5-x-7 picture. We then painted it with the shaving cream technique described above. Once that dried, we cut out different colors of two separate size to make layers for the frame. After glue together, the girls decorated the edges with jewels! It was the perfect Valentine's Gift!
