Thanksgiving is right around the corner! It's the perfect time to cover your house in kiddo-crafts and teach them what it means to be thankful. We have discussing the origins of thanksgiving, though I put a happier twist on the truth, and coloring lots of turkeys! Our preschooler was amazed that people tried to get away from a king (in her happy world of princesses she couldn't imagine the concept of tyranny) and that they came to America and met new friends (yes, I told her they were friends). We used coloring pages while we talked. As for the fun part of thanksgiving crafts, we painted fall leaves and decorated the house! We also painted lots of turkeys!!
Here's how we did my some of my favorites (and coloring pages links!)

Tonight we finished my favorite of all the Thanksgiving crafts, when it dries and is hung I'll post another picture! I put red, yellow, and orange paint on a plate and let the girls swirl it together while stamping their hands. After they were dry, I cut them out and glued them on a construction paper circle I cut out. Then glued our oldest daughter's hand prints on the outside row and the youngest on the inside row. I can't wait to hang this wreath on the mantle! |
We did hand print turkeys! Let the girls paint grass, clouds, and trees to decorate where their wild turkey lived. We did a brown hand print to start, then painted every other finger red and yellow and layered them on top of the brown fingers :)
We printed off a bunch of pages of the below coloring page and I let the girls paint them all. After cutting them out, I put tape on the back and let the girls decorate the house!

Our oldest daughter goes to art class, here's a couple cute turkeys she made!
We love decorating our house in all our children's crafts! Watching the express themselves through their drawings is amazing. Absolutely love it! Share your holiday ideas too!
